Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Threeprinted when you use this marketplace.
Last updated: 15 October 2026
These Terms govern your use of Threeprinted (the “Platform”), a marketplace where buyers order 3D-printed items from independent sellers. By creating an account, placing an order, or listing an item, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “Threeprinted” mean the operator of this Platform, contactable at support@threeprinted.com and at220 Brew St, Suite 301, Port Moody, BC V3H 0H6, Canada.
1. Who you are contracting with
Threeprinted is a business registered in British Columbia, Canada (registration number FM1120801), at 220 Brew St, Suite 301, Port Moody, BC V3H 0H6, Canada.
Threeprinted is more than an introduction service. We are the merchant of record for every order. When you buy, your payment is made to Threeprinted, and “Threeprinted” is what appears on your card statement. We then pay the seller their share separately.
This means your contract for payment is with us, and you may raise payment problems, refunds and billing disputes with us directly. It does not mean we manufacture the item: the seller produces, packs and ships it, and is responsible for the item matching its listing.
2. Accounts
You must give accurate registration information. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password and devices secure. Tell us promptly at support@threeprinted.com if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
Age
You must be at least 13 to have an account, or 14 in Quebec. We ask for your date of birth, and the country and province or state you live in, once, and you must answer truthfully. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under that age, we close it.
If you are under the age of majority where you live — 18 or 19 in Canada, depending on your province or territory; 18 in most US states, 19 in Alabama and Nebraska, and 21 in Mississippi — you may use your account only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Your account can browse, save items and keep private lists, follow makers, read their posts and contact support. Buying, selling, joining memberships, requesting prints and sharing lists are for adults only, and items rated adults only (section 4) are not shown to you.
Lists you share
An adult can share a list of saved items by link. While it is shared, anyone can see it, with its name and your username, and search engines may index it, until you stop sharing it. A list’s name is your content and must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. We may stop sharing a list that does not.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or our Copyright Policy.
3. Buying
A listing is an invitation to order, not a binding offer. Your order is accepted when we confirm it and payment is authorised. Prices are shown in the currency stated at checkout. They include our service fee, and exclude taxes, duties and shipping unless stated otherwise.
Buying, including claiming a free or members’ file, is for adults: the age of majority where you live (section 2). Items rated adults only are shown only to signed-in adults.
Most items are made to order. Production begins after payment, which is why cancellation and return rights are limited once production has started. What you can and cannot get back is set out in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Delivery estimates are estimates. Once a parcel is handed to a carrier, its progress is outside our control and the seller’s.
Memberships
Some sellers offer memberships: a monthly payment that supports them, in return for what their tier describes. That can include files only members can download and a discount on their items. You must be an adult to join one.
Price and renewal.
- A membership costs the price shown on the seller’s page, plus any tax that applies, which is shown at checkout before you pay.
- You are charged when you join and again on the same date each month. It renews automatically until you cancel. You are asked to agree to that before you pay, and we record that you did.
- A seller may change a tier’s price for new members only. Yours stays at the price you joined at for as long as your membership continues.
Switching tiers. You can move to another of the same seller’s tiers. You pay the difference for the rest of the month straight away, and the unused part of your current tier is credited.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from My memberships. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for, and that month is not refunded.
If a payment fails. Your access stops at the end of the month you paid for. We tell you, and the card is tried again over the following days. If a retry succeeds, your access returns; if every retry fails, the membership ends. You can change the card from My memberships.
If the seller stops. If a seller closes their account, your membership ends and we refund the unused part of the month you paid for. If a seller’s account is suspended or deactivated, you are not charged while it stays that way, and your access lasts to the end of the month you paid for. If the account becomes active again, your membership carries on from its next renewal date.
What members get.
- Each seller describes what their tiers include and is responsible for providing it. If you do not receive what a tier describes, contact us, and we may refund a membership payment in whole or in part.
- Files offered to members are licensed to you under the Personal use licence (section 6). You can download them from your account while your membership lasts. Once it ends you can no longer download them, but the Personal licence still covers copies you have already downloaded.
- A member discount applies to that seller’s items while your membership gives you access. It does not combine with a discount code: the larger of the two applies.
- Your membership is personal. You may not share your access, or anything offered only to members, with anyone else.
Payment. Your payments are made to Threeprinted, as for orders (section 1), and we pay the seller their share.
If we stop offering memberships, each one ends at the end of the month you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
4. Selling
If you list items, you agree that:
- You are an adult where you live (section 2). If you tell us you are not, your store is paused: your items are hidden and new orders refused, while your existing orders and payouts carry on. It reopens on its own once you are an adult where you live.
- You have the right to make, sell and ship every item you list, including the right to use any 3D model, design or trademark it embodies.
- Your listings, images and model files are accurate and not misleading.
- You will produce and ship accepted orders within the times you advertise, and provide tracking where the Platform requests it.
- You will comply with our Acceptable Use Policy.
- You are responsible for your own tax obligations, including any sales tax, GST/HST or income tax arising from your sales.
You are an independent seller, not our employee, agent or partner. Nothing here creates a joint venture or franchise.
Age ratings
Every item you list — a listing, a file or a bundle — carries an age rating you choose: everyone, or adults only. Choose adults only for anything sexual or adult-themed, bladed tools, realistic replica weapons and smoking accessories. A bundle with anything rated adults only in it is adults only too. You are responsible for rating your items accurately. We may change a rating, and a listing or file you change from adults only to everyone is reviewed again before it is shown.
Your content and the licence you give us
You keep ownership of everything you upload — model files, images, video and text. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting and display that content, for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform. This licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies retained in backups or as our records of completed transactions require.
Fees, payouts and the holdback
We deduct our fees from the order total and pass on the remainder. Seller earnings are not released immediately: funds are held for a holdback period of 7 days after delivery before becoming payable. The holdback exists so that refunds, disputes and chargebacks can be resolved from the order they relate to rather than clawed back later.
Payments and payouts are processed by Stripe, and their use is also subject to Stripe’s terms. A seller must complete Stripe onboarding before any payout can be made.
Offering memberships
If you offer memberships (see Memberships, in section 3):
- Tiers. You may offer up to three monthly tiers, each priced from $5 to $200 in Canadian or US dollars. You must describe what each tier includes, and provide it to every member for as long as they pay for it.
- Fees and payouts. We keep 20% of each membership payment and pay you the rest, through your usual payouts, once 30 days have passed since the payment. Payment processing fees come out of our share, not yours. Where tax applies to a membership payment, it is added to the price the member pays, and our 20% and your share are both calculated on the price alone.
- Price changes apply to new members only. Existing members keep the price they joined at.
- Refunds. We may refund a membership payment, in whole or in part, when a member did not receive what your tier describes. A refund for that reason may be taken from your share, as a refund on an order can be.
- Closing your account ends your members’ memberships, and each member is refunded the unused part of their month from your share.
- Suspension or deactivation. While your account is suspended or deactivated, your members are not charged. Each membership is charged again from its next renewal date once your account is active.
- Disputed payments. If a member disputes a membership payment with their bank, your share of it is held while the dispute is open, and taken back if the dispute is lost.
- Your content. Posts and files you offer to members are your content under “Your content and the licence you give us” above, and must follow our Acceptable Use Policy.
- We tell you how many members you have and what you earn from them, not who they are.
Print requests
What they are. A print request lets a buyer describe an item and invite makers to quote for it. When you accept a quote, the item is reserved for you to buy. Once you pay for it, it is an order under these Terms like any other: we are the merchant of record, and the maker makes and ships it. Our Print Request Rules form part of these Terms. You must be an adult to post a request.
Your promise when you post. By posting a request, you promise that:
- you own the design and every file and photo you attach, or you have the right to have the design printed and to share those files with makers for that purpose; and
- the item is not prohibited by our Acceptable Use Policy.
To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify us and the maker against claims that arise from a breach of that promise.
The licence you give makers. You grant each maker who can see your request a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free licence to view and download its files and photos, only to prepare a quote. To the maker whose quote you accept, you grant the same licence to reproduce the design as many times as the order requires, only to fulfil that order. You also grant us, for everything you upload to a request, the licence described under “Your content and the licence you give us”.
A file you bought here. Instead of uploading a model, you can choose a file you bought on the Platform. Makers who quote see only its public page. Only the maker whose quote you accept receives the file, through your order, once it is paid, and only while your licence lasts (see Both licences, in section 6).
What makers may not do. A maker may use a request’s files and photos only to quote on it and, if their quote is accepted, to make that order. They may not keep, share, publish, sell or print them for any other purpose, and they must delete their copies once they decide not to quote or the order is complete. A breach is a breach of these Terms, and may also infringe your rights or someone else’s.
Review, and no obligation to quote. Our staff review every request before makers can see it. We may decline, hold or remove any request, or close its quotes, including where we reasonably suspect it breaches these Terms or another person’s rights. A maker may decline any request.
Requests are not confidential. Once released, a request is shown to every approved maker. Do not include confidential material. Makers are independent: these Terms bind them to the limits above, but we cannot guarantee that every maker complies.
Quotes. A quote is the maker’s offer to make the item at its price. It stands for 7 days, and the maker may change or withdraw it until you accept it. Once you accept it, the item is reserved for you to pay for within 3 days. If you do not, the reservation lapses and the request closes.
The accepted quote. The quote you accept describes the item: material, colour, size, quantity and finish. It is the description the item is judged against under our Refund Policy, together with the photos the maker takes of the finished item before shipping. Custom work cannot be returned because you changed your mind.
Staying on the Platform. Requests, quotes and the resulting order must be handled through the Platform.
5. Prohibited use
Our Acceptable Use Policy lists what may not be listed, printed or shipped through the Platform, and what conduct is not allowed. Breaching it is a breach of these Terms.
6. Intellectual property
The Platform itself — its software, design, branding and content other than user content — belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms grant you no right to copy, resell or reverse engineer it.
We respond to claims that content on the Platform infringes copyright. The process, and how to file or answer a notice, is in our Copyright Policy.
Digital files: what you are buying
Some items on the Platform are digital files — a 3D model you download and print yourself, with nothing shipped to you. Buying one does not transfer ownership of the design. It grants you a licence to use that file on the terms below, and the seller keeps the copyright.
Every digital file is sold under one of exactly two licences. Which one applies is shown on the file’s page before you buy, on your receipt, and in your account. Sellers choose between these two; they cannot write their own terms.
Personal use licence
You may:
- download the file and keep your own copies of it;
- print it as many times as you like, for yourself or as gifts;
- modify it for your own use.
You may not:
- sell, rent or give away the file itself, modified or not;
- sell anything printed from it;
- publish it anywhere others can download it, including free of charge.
Commercial use licence
Everything the Personal licence allows, and in addition you may sell physical items printed from the file, with no limit on quantity and no further payment to the seller.
The restrictions on the file still apply in full: you may not sell, share, sublicense or republish the file itself, modified or not. The licence covers what you print, never the thing you print from.
Both licences
- They are non-exclusive — the seller may sell the same file to anyone else — and personal to you. You cannot transfer one, including by selling your account.
- They last indefinitely, and a seller removing a file from sale does not end yours. Your copy stays available in your account.
- A file you claimed as a membership benefit can be downloaded from your account only while that membership lasts (see Memberships, in section 3).
- Either licence lets you have a maker on the Platform print the file for you through a print request (see Print requests, in section 4). The maker receives the file only through that order, may use it only to make that order, and may not keep, share or reuse it.
- They end if you breach them. Printing to sell under a Personal licence, or redistributing the file under either, is a breach.
- They do not include any trade mark, logo or brand shown in or on the model, and they do not make a file lawful to print where printing it would not otherwise be — see the Acceptable Use Policy.
Digital files are not refundable once downloaded, unless the file is faulty or not as described. You are asked to acknowledge that at checkout before paying, and we record that you did. The full position is in our Refund Policy.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the Platform available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may perform maintenance that makes the Platform temporarily unavailable.
8. Disclaimers
Except where the law says otherwise, the Platform is provided “as is” and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Items bought here are made by independent sellers, often as one-off prints. They are sold for general consumer use. Do not use them where failure could cause injury or loss — including load-bearing, structural, automotive, aviation, marine, medical, life-support, firearm or electrical-safety applications — unless the seller has expressly confirmed the item is fit for that use and it is lawful.
9. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your rights under applicable consumer protection law. Those rights sit alongside these Terms and are not replaced by them.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability arising out of or relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
10. Indemnity
If you are a seller, you agree to indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from items you list or ship, content you upload, or your breach of these Terms — including claims that something you sold infringes another person’s rights.
11. Disputes between buyers and sellers
Contact us first at support@threeprinted.com. We can review order records, mediate, and issue refunds under our Refund Policy. We are not obliged to become a party to a dispute beyond that.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give notice through the Platform or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Platform after that means you accept the updated Terms. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and the courts of that jurisdiction have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory laws where you live.
